Dedham Savings Community Foundation Supports Charles River Center
The Dedham Savings Community Foundation has donated $15,000 to the Charles River Center located in Needham, MA. The funds will help improve accessibility and usability of one of their most active buildings, the Grugan Center. The Grugan Center is the home of the Charles River Center employment and community-based day programs for adults with intellectual disabilities who are working on attaining pre-employment skills and jobs and become active members of their communities.
The current elevator is unreliable and program participants can only use the ground floor for their programs. Individuals who use wheelchairs may not have full access to the services offered on other levels. A reliable elevator is necessary to effectively train and support adults with disabilities who want to gain new life and work skills that ultimately lead to future employment.
ABOUT THE CHARLES RIVER CENTER
The mission of the Charles River Center is to empower and support people with developmental disabilities by offering high-quality, individualized opportunities that foster independence and community inclusion. They strive to be recognized as the leading provider of innovative, person-centered supports and services for those with disabilities.
