Dedham Savings Community Foundation Supports Ecumenical Social Action Committee

The Dedham Savings Community Foundation has donated $5,000 to the Ecumenical Social Action Committee (ESAC).  This capital investment will be used to transform the organization’s technology infrastructure to meet the changing needs of staff, especially as they work remotely during the pandemic. The organization will also upgrade its website, allowing clients to better engage with services online, which is also critical during the pandemic, as clients are no longer able to visit offices to meet with staff.

ABOUT ECUMENICAL SOCIAL ACTION COMMITTEE

The Ecumenical Social Action Committee is a non-profit organization that works to improve the quality of life for low-to-moderate income residents of Boston and eastern Massachusetts.  Serving 700 clients annually, ESAC offers a wide range of education and housing programs to stabilize and empower low-income out-of-school youth and offer comprehensive support services to help low-to-moderate elderly residents remain safe at home. Programs include senior home repair and fall prevention, foreclosure prevention, housing stabilization, benefits enrollment assistance, youth education, and youth permanent supportive housing.

ABOUT DEDHAM SAVINGS COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

The Dedham Savings Community Foundation is a privately funded foundation created by Dedham Savings in 2000 to provide financial support to charitable organizations that serve disadvantaged populations within the Bank’s community reinvestment area. These communities include Dedham, Needham, Norwood, Sharon, South Boston, Walpole, and Westwood and contiguous areas.  Typical requests are received from schools, libraries, family service organizations and non-profit organizations.  The Trustees of the Foundation accept grant requests from community organizations and make awards twice per year.
