Dedham Savings Community Foundation Supports Fairbanks House Museum

The Dedham Savings Community Foundation has donated $10,000 to the Fairbanks House Museum in Dedham.  Funds will be used for preservation work on the Fairbanks House, the oldest surviving wood building in North America. The restoration work will repair centuries-old wooden windows, frames, sills, and clapboards to prevent water and moisture from damaging the interior.

ABOUT FAIRBANKS FAMILY IN AMERICA, INC. / THE FAIRBANKS HOUSE MUSEUM

The Fairbanks House Museum is the oldest timber frame home built between 1637 and 1641, still standing in North America and a prime example of early colonial architecture. The museum seeks to preserve, conserve, research, and interpret the Fairbanks family homestead, its collections, and the stories of all the generations that lived and worked there.

ABOUT DEDHAM SAVINGS COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

The Dedham Savings Community Foundation is a privately funded foundation created by Dedham Savings in 2000 to provide financial support to charitable organizations that serve disadvantaged populations within the Bank’s community reinvestment area. These communities include Dedham, Needham, Norwood, Sharon, South Boston, Walpole, and Westwood and contiguous areas.  Typical requests are received from schools, libraries, family service organizations and non-profit organizations.  The Trustees of the Foundation accept grant requests from community organizations and make awards twice per year.
