The Dedham Savings Community Foundation has made a grant to Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Development Corporation (JPNDC) to support their Family Prosperity Services program. Grant funds will be used to purchase mobile office equipment, including tablets, hot spots, and portable printers, that will enhance JPNCD’s work of strengthening low-income families’ access to career development, asset building, and early education resources. Mobility Coaches and Family Engagement Specialists will be empowered to serve people on-site at multiple affordable housing properties to assist with identifying employment and training opportunities, connect clients to new benefits, and address clients’ needs and goals. Additionally, the purchase of a projector, screen, tables and banner stands will allow coaches to run workshops and recruiting sessions in community rooms. These gatherings will help break down the barriers – transportation, time, childcare, fear – that stand between many low-income people and opportunities for upward mobility.
