Dedham Savings Community Foundation Supports Needham Community Farm
The Dedham Savings Community Foundation has donated $5,000 to Needham Community Farm. The grant funds will be used to repair and replace fencing around their 3-acre primary farm site to protect the community gardening beds. This will allow for expansion of production capacity and increase the amount of food grown for donation and hunger relief programs.
ABOUT NEEDHAM COMMUNITY FARM
Needham Community Farm provides fresh, healthy, sustainably grown produce to the Needham Community Council Food Pantry, serving over 300 income-eligible families a month. Their mission is to increase access to healthy produce for those in their community who experience food insecurity; and educate the community about sustainable growing and nutrition through community educational programs.
ABOUT DEDHAM SAVINGS COMMUNITY FOUNDATION
The Dedham Savings Community Foundation was formed by Dedham Savings for the purpose of funding requests from community organizations which provide services to the communities that they serve. These communities generally, but not exclusively, include Dedham, Needham, Norwood, Sharon, South Boston, Walpole, and Westwood. Typical requests are usually received from such organizations as schools, libraries, family service organizations and non-profit organizations. The Trustees of the Foundation will accept grant requests from community organizations and make awards twice a year.
Organizations wishing to request funding from the Foundation may apply online at www.dedhamsavings.com/community.
