Dedham Savings Community Foundation Supports South Boston Neighborhood Development Corporation
The Dedham Savings Community Foundation has donated $25,000 to South Boston Neighborhood Development Corp (SBNDC). This grant will help to defray costs associated with window replacements in multiple buildings, in an effort to maximize efficiency of the heating and cooling systems. In addition to energy efficiency, this upgrade will also help impacted families realize significant cost savings, and is part of a larger organization-wide Climate Action initiative to become more sustainable and reduce SBNDC’s carbon footprint.
SBNDC is a non-profit organization that works to address the displacement of low- and moderate-income South Boston residents with the creation and preservation of affordable housing. SBNDC also provides quality-of-life programming and economic development to increase community engagement in a neighborhood that is experiencing rapid gentrification and demographic change.
ABOUT DEDHAM SAVINGS COMMUNITY FOUNDATION
The Dedham Savings Community Foundation is a privately funded foundation created by Dedham Savings in 2000 to provide financial support to charitable organizations that serve disadvantaged populations within the Bank’s community reinvestment area. These communities include Dedham, Needham, Norwood, Sharon, South Boston, Walpole, and Westwood and contiguous areas. Typical requests are received from schools, libraries, family service organizations and non-profit organizations. The Trustees of the Foundation accept grant requests from community organizations and make awards twice per year.
