Dedham Savings Community Foundation Supports The Charity Guild
The Dedham Savings Community Foundation has donated $5,000 to The Charity Guild, an Emergency Food Pantry serving the Greater Brockton Area. Grant funds will be used to lease a box truck which will allow for more food deliveries and food pickups. The Charity Guild will also be opening a food pantry at a local high school to serve students experiencing homelessness and food insecurity. The new truck will help support the increased number of weekly food pickups and distributions to address the growing needs in the community and the new food pantry.
ABOUT THE CHARITY GUILD
The Charity Guild was formed in 1971 by a group of concerned individuals whose goal was to provide clothing and food for those in need. The Food Pantry distributes both perishable and non-perishable foods to individuals and families requesting assistance. Volunteers help with client intake, filling bags, redistributing bulk foods, stocking shelves, sorting donations, or assisting with record keeping. Food is purchase from a local wholesaler, obtain items from The Greater Boston Food Bank, and accept donations from individuals and companies.
