Dedham Savings Community Foundation Supports The Cultural Alliance of Medfield

The Dedham Savings Community Foundation has donated $2,500 to the Cultural Alliance of Medfield (CAM).  This grant will be used to create a large-scale exterior mural at the former Medfield State Hospital which closed in 2003. CAM has secured a lease to create a performance art center and transform the core buildings and grounds into a vibrant public area. The mural will help to establish the site as a place for creative pursuits, raise awareness and support for cultural development, support a Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) artist, and engage the youth.

ABOUT CULTURAL ALLIANCE OF MEDFIELD

The Cultural Alliance of Medfield excels at creating community spaces, arts programs, and events that foster connections.

The challenges and opportunities we all face, in communities across our region, remind us just how important this work is to our collective health and wellbeing. CAM has secured a 99-year lease on two signature buildings at the beautiful, expansive, and historic Medfield State Hospital to create a performing arts and education center.

ABOUT DEDHAM SAVINGS COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

The Dedham Savings Community Foundation is a privately funded foundation created by Dedham Savings in 2000 to provide financial support to charitable organizations that serve disadvantaged populations within the Bank’s community reinvestment area. These communities include Dedham, Needham, Norwood, Sharon, South Boston, Walpole, and Westwood and contiguous areas.  Typical requests are received from schools, libraries, family service organizations and non-profit organizations.  The Trustees of the Foundation accept grant requests from community organizations and make awards twice per year.
