Dedham Savings Community Foundation Supports Westwood Historical Society

The Dedham Savings Community Foundation has donated $11,129 to Westwood Historical Society.  This grant will be used toward multiple facility maintenance projects at the historic Fisher School on Clapboardtree Street in Westwood.  Updates will include power washing, painting, installation of an entrance ramp and railings, repairs to the stone wall, and general property and brush clean up.

ABOUT WESTWOOD HISTORICAL SOCIETY

The mission of the Westwood Historical Society is to host multiple programs per year focused on topics of local historical interest, to encourage historical research on the Town of Westwood through their archives, and to foster an understanding and appreciation of past citizens of Westwood. The Historical Society serves as a resource to local schools and the community regarding genealogy and historic local building and houses. Each year, the Society sponsors an “1800 School Day,” held at Fisher School for all third grade classes in Westwood. All Westwood Historical Society programs are open to the public, free of charge, and handicapped accessible.

ABOUT DEDHAM SAVINGS COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

The Dedham Savings Community Foundation is a privately funded foundation created by Dedham Savings in 2000 to provide financial support to charitable organizations that serve disadvantaged populations within the Bank’s community reinvestment area. These communities include Dedham, Needham, Norwood, Sharon, South Boston, Walpole, and Westwood and contiguous areas.  Typical requests are received from schools, libraries, family service organizations and non-profit organizations.  The Trustees of the Foundation accept grant requests from community organizations and make awards twice per year.
