Virtual Events & Community Support
COVID-19 has affected so many aspects of our lives as individuals. And, businesses and community organizations have not been spared. For many local non-profit organizations that provide critical support to families in need, these past months have meant scrambling to find new and creative ways to continue their important fundraising efforts.
Due to the economic fallout from COVID-19, more families than ever need support from these organizations, which rely on fundraising to provide their services. However, due to social distancing restrictions, organizations that raise funds through in-person events and galas have had to rethink their efforts, with many events moving to a virtual online format.
Dedham Savings has supported charitable organization in-person events over the years and has smoothly transitioned to supporting these new virtual programs. For its own part, Dedham Savings has also pivoted during this challenging time, moving the Bank’s typical in-branch holiday food drive online.
Each year around the holidays, prior to 2020, customers were invited to bring food items in-person to branch locations. These items were then delivered by Bank employees to local food pantries. However, this year, due to the impact from the coronavirus with fewer customers visiting lobbies and a need to restrict donation items from individual homes for health and safety reasons, the Bank has successfully collected food and cash donations from employees and customers online. We are thankful for this continued community support of our local friends and neighbors – together we provided nearly 500 pounds of food to those in need.

Earlier in the year, Dedham Savings was also able to provide increased support of $75,000 to local food pantries through the Dedham Savings Community Foundation.
